Em Draws Comparisons to Lorde’s Solar Power in New Music Video Release on YouTube

Many music fans and critics are drawing comparisons between Em and Lorde due to the release of Em’s latest indie pop music video on YouTube “Hear Your Love”. And let me tell you, everyone is absolutely loving the video for its lyricism, visual components, and just because of Em herself! The song itself is different than “Solar Power” but fans are saying both women are killing it!

Em’s “Hear Your Love” music video is set in Russia in the 1800’s, drawing from what Em feels was a “perfect place to capture the essence and the way music and love felt back then.” The story itself is between Em and her love interest, Giuseppe, and their “love language together”. The visuals, again, successfully capture this blossoming love story and it is quite a stunning sight to see.

Tunedloud.com raved about the song. They say that “And so it is on “Hear Your Love”. Her direct and refined vocals are a refreshing listening option in a time where electronic and digitized effects take precedence. Em’s vocal methods bring an eloquently cultivated presence to the song. She owns the ability to bridge her distinctive sound with an up to the moment musical concept. She sounds absolutely stunning on this single as she her voice becomes one with the instrumental backing.”

Em is not new to the music scene. According to her,  “Anytime I am writing and anytime I am in the booth recording, I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that this is the destiny of what I was put here on Earth to do,” Em concludes. “My mission is to help people heal and feel connected - closer to God and their truth.”

Folk Music’s New Star Kailee Spark Makes Spotify Debut with Single “Passageways”

Folk music has a new rising star by the name of Kailee Spark and her debut single on Spotify “Passageways” is a beautifully written and performed smash hit. Spark’s first single and music video, ‘Passageways’, was released on April 19 of this year and it is a love song with some hints of a darker tones. Listen to the track for yourself on Spotify here!

In regards to the song, Kailee Spark explains: “There is one level of the song that is about how sometimes, in loving someone, we hope that our love can ‘heal’ them from their pains and their shadow sides or whatever. It’s a kind of idealistic, naive pining. We know we can’t “fix” someone, but damn, when you love someone and are enamored with them you sometimes hold an unrealistic optimism that you’ll be the one who can help them change.”

The folk single is also accompanied by a visually haunting video, which you can watch on here YouTube channel hereThe video itself is made of flashback sequences: the video flashes back and forth from a ‘dream reality’ and ‘normal reality’ of a live stage performance in a theatre. The dream sequence itself is set in a thick, misty jungle, and at one point, Kailee  crawls through a deep mud puddle. Kailee goes onto explain that:

“The idea of crawling in the mud seemed kinda fun at first, but actually doing it was disgusting. It was a stagnant swampy mud puddle that smelled awful. It was all warm and mushy and with each step I didn’t know how deep it went.

It brought back these terrifying flashbacks from when I was 10 and almost died by walking into a muck pit, which is basically a huge deep hole of cow manure. I was visiting a relative’s dairy farm and was wandering around, and started sinking down into a muck pit like quicksand. My life flashed before my eyes and I thought my short life was over. Luckily I managed to crawl out after getting up to my chin in manure. I think that the fact that it brought up those emotions made the story in the song come to life for me”

Electronic pop duo PIERA – consisting of Piera Klein and Micah Plissner-have just released their latest single on Spotify, titled “Unraveling”! If you’re a fan of Drab Majesty, trust us when we say we think you will absolutely love this track. Listen to “Unraveling” on Spotify here!

PIERA is the dark electronic - synth-pop duo formed by singer/songwriter/producer, Piera Klein and songwriter/producer Micah Plissner. The video for Unraveling sees the two confront the dark emotional landscape of a broken relationship while losing hope for love. In the times of COVID-19, Unraveling is nothing if not relatable to any relationship. With an instantly catchy song built upon classic synth-pop and a video inspired by visual artists such as James Turrell and Zaha Hadid, PIERA looked to connect the neo-futuristic design with the song’s lyrics and theme of mental/emotional isolation. With a clean aesthetic, the video feels both modern yet classic.

Based in Los Angeles, PIERA’s sound is informed by the combination of their diverse unique backgrounds. Micah is not only a producer, but also a multi-instrumentalist originally from New York City. Piera is a singer, composer, songwriter, and California native who has experienced and observed many aspects of the world.

For those wondering what their sound is; it is a mix of electronic, underground, beat-driven, synth pop, with some slight psychedelic undertones. Throw in some haunting vocals and you have a sound created by PIERA, which sounds like no one else.

PIERA have been influenced and listen to many of their contemporary and classical influences: such as Klaus Schulze, The Swans, Broadcast, Suicide, Neu, Jon Maus, and the Knife (to just name a few). Whether you’re a fan of Drab Majesty, or are already a fan of PIERA, we recommend you listen to “Unraveling”!
